The primary cause of any disease and hypertension is weak power of body resistance- mainly due to tension and stress caused by tough competition for survival of the fittest as a result of advanced technology which had affected the functioning of the heart. The modern civilized life is full of complications, dangers and disappointments. Move fast is the highest challenge of the Internet economy.
Another reason is the wrong food habits and sedentary life style and no physical exercise, all time sitting in easy chairs which has given rise to cholesterol leading to malfunctioning of the digestive, cardiac and eliminating systems that disturb the vital functioning of liver, kidneys, pancreas and eyes.

Clogging or narrowing of the arteries which supply blood to different parts of the body lead to high B.P. Hardening of the arteries is associated with growing old, whereas narrowing happens when fats and minerals deposit inside the walls of the arteries. Cholesterol and fats are considered the main culprits of narrowing of arteries.

SYMPTOMS
Sometimes hypertension may not produce any symptom for years. That is why it is called a “SILENT KILLER”.
Major symptoms of hypertension are tension, worry, headache, palpitation, fatigue, and insomnia, swelling of eyes, urinary problems, feeling irritated and aggressive at the slightest provocation, feeling degraded, helpless and depressed.

TREATMENT
Nowadays, we expect instant relief. Allopathic medicines and drugs, in many cases have not proved effective. They are not devoid of their side effects. Hypertension cannot be treated without taking the person as a complete entity…..physical, mental, social and spiritual. Naturopathy and Yoga show the way. It has worked well and brought solace to the people. It is very essential to restore health by living in close contact with nature by balancing the five elements in ourselves and thereby strengthen our immune system.

To lower blood pressure without making any effort to remove the causes is highly unscientific. First of all remove the causes.

NATUROPATHY & YOGA
Doctors have realized the limitations of modern system of medicine vis – a – vis the effectiveness of Naturopathy & Yoga ….to keep one’s body fit and healthy. Naturopathy treats the patient with the five elements……..Water, Air, Fire, Earth and Sky. Deficiency of any of these elements is made up by the application of

(i) Hydrotherapy – Hip Bath, Sitz Bath, Steam Bath, Foot Bath etc.
(ii) Mud therapy – Application of mud packs / compress
(iii) Sun Bath – Early morning sun bath in the open.
(iv) Enema and Fasting – To bring out accumulated waste products from the body.
When we fast, the digestive system takes maximum rest but the eliminative system becomes most effective and throws out the already accumulated waste products which stick to the intestines, and hence make the body ‘clean’ in true sense.

Massage with blue oil from upwards to down wards is given. It smoothes the brain and brings relaxed sleep. Green water is given to normalize the colour effect.

Dietary restriction of salt has been shown to reduce high blood pressure.

Foods with high sodium content which can be avoided are salted biscuits, namkeen potato chips, banana chips, tomato sauce, salted butter, dried fish etc.
Synthetic foods and soft drinks are in the long run, harmful and responsible for high B.P. should be avoided.
Constipation is harmful. Take fiber diet. Sprouted food with honey, chokar, isabgol, alkaline food…….cabbage, pumpkin, turnip, gourd, tinda, cucumber and fresh fruit…….papaya, guava, water melon, amla, butter milk, coconut water etc. Onion reduces cholesterol.
Wheat grass juice is very beneficial for hypertension. The most vital ingredient in wheat grass is ‘chlorophyll’ which is very effective remedy for hypertension.
Vegetable diet helps easier breathing and maintains a healthy heart. It tones up the digestive and eliminative systems.

YOGA
Yoga is an indispensible part of ‘s health care system and naturopathy to effectively cure the diseases. Yoga and naturopathy are two sides of the same coin. It has a holistic approach to the cure of hypertension. It is a unique age old system which views health in totality…..encompassing physical, mental, social and spiritual health of the human being. A yoga life style has been found to provide tremendous benefits to patients suffering from hypertension. It checks the progression of blockings in the arteries. It helps to correct postures of our body and change our way of life through Asanas, Pranayama, Mudras and Meditation.

Siddhasana, Padmasana, Shavasana and Hasya Yoga are very useful.

The doctors and scientists admit that prayer at home and regular visits to a place of worship enhance the prospects of psychological well being as well as prolong one’s healthy living. The great poet Tennyson conveyed it when he said that, “More things are wrought by prayer than the world of dreams of “. Praying and meditation is essentially sending out your positive energy. It keeps you fresh and full of energy.
