: Trains like Howrah Express, Bikaner Express, and Shatabadi Express all take 4-5 hrs and charge somewhere between Rs. 80-359 only.

Attire:
The usual dress of the natives is usually as colorful as the City. Men with big, bright turbans on their heads flaunting their swashbuckling moustache can be seen in the bustling city of the city of Forts. Women are usually seen in colorful ghaghras adorning heavy intricate jewellery.

History:
Jaipur owes its Majestic appearance because of Maharaja Jai Singh II who laid out this city keeping in mind the strong alliance with Moguls. He had carefully designed the city with six rectangular blocks.

The City’s main attraction lies in the old part of town. The main attraction is the Jowhari bazaar, the jeweler’s market. The entire city is beautifully lit up in the evening like a cascading beauty, as the colors of building seem like a backdrop to the colors of the Maharajas then. Those looking for some serious shopping can find beautiful jewellery and Sari from The main bazaars in the old city Jodhari Bazaar and those interested in Brass can head towards Triplolia Bazar. For trinkets, Chandpol bazaar is the place to head to.

Sightseeing:

Jantar Mantar
: The Jantar Mantar is one of the first observatories created by MahaRaja Jai Singh in 1728. His mastery over astronomy can be seen in his creation as it reflects an amalgamation of science and tradition. It is open from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm.
Central Museum: This museum contains collection of portraits of Jaipur Maharajas, tribal costumes, miniature paintings, musical instruments and decorative art. It is open from 10 am to 4.30 pm.

Hawa Mahal: Built in 1799, the Hawa Mahal or palace of winds is one of the major landmarks of the emerald city. It is an example of mastery in artistic rendezvous reflecting the brilliant honeycombed design overlooking an excellent view of the city.

City Palace: Nestled in the heart of the city is this palace that occupies a large area that boasts of its courtyards, gardens and buildings. The museum consists of a large collection of paintings, weapons and royal costumes. The palace is open daily from 9.30 to 4.30 pm.
The apartments are well maintained as well. Entry to this heavenly abode is a meager Rs. 35.

Nahagarh Fort : It is also called the Tiger Fort overlooks the city’s overall view as the lights of the Fort throw a magnificent reflection of the cascading beauty of Jaipur. Built in 1734 the Fort depicts an amalgamation of history and tradition. Its unique zigzag route provides an adventures delight. The entry fee is a very meager amount.

Jaigarh Fort : Built in 1726 this Fort highlights a great view over the plains from the Diwa Burj watchtower.The fort comprises water reservoirs, residential areas and puppet theatre. It is open from 9 am to 4.30.

An array of festivities Galore
Elephant Festival: A festival completely unique it brings about moments of momentum when experiences. The elephants are beautiful decorated and march towards the ground the famous Chaugha ground. Different competitions like polo matches and tug-of-war are organized to bring spice and fun alive in the show. The feather in the hat is the best decorated elephant of the show. Live performance and folk dances are also organized to keep the show alive. Since this festival comes during Holi people celebrate it while mounting on the elephants.

Kite flying Festival
This festival is usually enjoyed by people in all age groups. A child as enthusiastic as an old woman. The day to mark this festival is 14th Jan when everyone enjoys flying kites on this day. Every five days this festival is organized by the government of India when all the kite makers come and showcase their maestro in kite making.

Teej
The authencity of this festival lies in Jaipur even though it can be celebrated in all parts of the country. It is an important festival celebrated by the women folk of India when they pray for their husband’s longeticity. They adorn themselves with beautiful new clothes and intricate jewellery. On this day goddess Parvati is worshipped who is the epitome of virtue and devotion. Women enjoy themselves by applying henna on their hands and singing songs.
This city is a city that is alive in its splendor and cultural heritage. Every day is welcomed by a new face of the city.
